What’s in my bag? is a recurring feature where I share a bit more about what style items are must-haves as STRUKTR Studios heads out of town or to an event.
We're jetting off to the Big Island of Hawaii soon (thank you, Alaska frequent flyer miles!). I'm excited to explore paradise and capture the unique culture and design on the island. What kind of design, you ask? A lot of id-century modern. A travel boom took Hawaii by storm in the mid-1960s with the emergence of the DC-8 jet (United announced its first DC-8 flights to Hawaii in 1967). As a result, Hawaii has a wealth of mid-century architecture, especially when it comes to hotels.
So as I channel the Aloha spirit and my inner mid-century maven here's a peek inside my bag at some of the essentials I'm bringing with me.
MARNI'S BAG
Bag: Calpak's Ambeur carry-on in rose gold
I love how this hardshell carry-on is for the modern, design-minded traveler. It comes in rose gold (my fave), gold, silver, white, and black. But really, I mean all of Calpak's offerings are super stylish (have you seen their milk marble collection?).
Inside:
Xhilaration Lasercut Flounce Bikini - Target
Aviator Sunglasses - H&M
White Birkenstocks - Zappos
Vintage Polaroid c. 1959 - Rose Bowl Flea Market (Similar)
Merona Blue Floral Hinge Clutch - Target (Similar)
Though it's not pictured here, I'm definitely also taking my Mata Traders Beach Cottage dress as well. It's the quintessential sun dress.
